Urban Search & Rescue
The Monterey County USAR Team is made up of 3 departments from Monterey County (Monterey, Monterey County Regional, North County) to assist in search and rescue operations. Urban Search and Rescue is considered a "multi-hazard" discipline, as it may be needed for a variety of emergencies or disasters. This means that the personnel and the rescue apparatus can now be called upon to respond anywhere in the state to assist in the event of a variety of emergencies or disasters including earthquakes, hurricanes, typhoons, storms and tornadoes, floods, dam failures, technological accidents, terrorist activities, and hazardous materials releases.
North County houses the County USAR Engine at Station 3. It is available for staffing and response 24/7 with highly specialized equipment. From High Angle to Water to Confined Space Rescues, members are always ready and equipped.
